1. The short version
The Chords.fm transcription tool runs entirely in your browser. Audio you load is decoded, analyzed, looped, slowed, pitch-shifted, and (optionally) stem-separated locally on your device. Nothing about your audio is uploaded to our servers. Your per-file settings (markers, loop slots, EQ, tempo, pitch) live in your browser’s local storage, not on any database we run.
There’s no signup, no account, no payment processing on our infrastructure. If you choose to support the project, the Support links open Stripe-hosted donation pages outside Chords.fm — we never receive your card details.
2. What we collect
- Standard server logs— Vercel records request paths, response codes, and IP addresses for hosted pages. Used for operational debugging and abuse prevention. Retained for up to 30 days per Vercel’s default retention.
- Google Analytics page views — anonymous page-view counts used to understand which routes get traffic. No personal identifiers are sent.
We do not run advertising trackers, behavioural cookies, or third-party analytics beyond the Google Analytics page-view tag above.
3. Who we share it with
- Vercel — hosts the static site + serverless rendering. Has access to the standard server logs described in §2.
- Google Analytics — receives anonymous page-view events.
- Stripe— only if you choose to support the project. The donation checkout runs entirely on Stripe’s hosted pages and we never see your payment details.
We may also disclose information if legally required (lawful subpoena, court order).
4. Your rights
Because we don’t hold an account record for you, there’s very little personal data to access, export, or delete. The settings you’ve customized live in your browser — clear your site data for chords.fm from your browser’s settings to wipe them.
If you live in California (CCPA) or the EU / UK / Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR), you have the right to ask about whatever we do hold, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Email privacy@chords.fm with any request.
5. Children
Chords.fm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
6. Contact

7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
